Real Estate Agents: 3 Tips to improve your Social Media presence today!
Social
Media can be challenging, especially if your main purpose of being on it is to
drive sales. As a student enrolled in Northwestern University’s Social Media
Marketing specialization program passionate about the new age of marketing, I
have found two articles to help you increase your sales without coming off as a
pushy sales agent.
The first
article is “Real Estate Marketing Done Brilliantly” by Elise Dopson for
Sensible Insights (http://bit.ly/EliseD). The article includes tips and tricks
on how real estate agents should use social to get more business inquiries.
Elise writes about the importance of a clear and concise social page to optimize
space provided in social bio sections. To do this, agents should place their
contact details, a website URL and use a professional profile photo. By doing
this, you have now provided a potential customer with all the necessary
information to get in contact with you. Another tip Elise provides is to use
videos across social platforms to showcase the house you have listed; she even
says that “97% of marketers say video have helped increase user understanding
of their product or service”. To increase brand awareness, Elise recommends the
usage of generic real estate hashtags on every post along with a few specific
to your selling brand. By following these tips, you have now shown everyone on
social that you are open for business.
The second
article is “4 Marketing Strategies for Real Estate Agents” by digital marketing
guru Gary Vaynerchuk (http://bit.ly/GaryVRE). The article provides out of the
box ideas on how you should engage with customers on their social platforms. The
first tip is to build your own brand, post pictures and content about you
showing the human side of you, not just the seller side. This is important for
you, a real estate agent to really distinguish yourself amongst all the other
agents within your community. Another item Gary mentions is to understand the
type of value you can provide to potential customers, and execute on it by
releasing content. If you can articulate the process of purchasing a house as well
as the dos and don’ts, put out a video on it that really shows your personality
and passion. Lastly, he writes about an out of the box idea on becoming the “Mayor”
of your town. By being the “Mayor”, you’ll release content on different items
that affect customers around the area in which you are selling a house. This
would be a review of the schools, the malls, the locals, etc. Gary has always
been a creative marketer, and this article shows why he’s one of the best in
the world.
Based on
the information within these articles, here are three things as a real estate
agent that you must do now to grow your social presence:
· Be Yourself –
People will only buy a house from someone they trust, post content that shows
the human side of you that they can relate to.
· Target Your Area – Create great content about the local schools, libraries and people in
the area you are selling your houses; this will lead to a bigger network of
connections and make you an area expert.
· Deliver Effective Content – Photos are a good choice for content but try mixing it up with video
and audio content so potential customers really get to hear and see your
passion.
Start now
and apply these three tips to create the brand that distinguishes you from the crowd of agents ineffectively using social media.
